Services Financiers Protecto Inc. (“Protecto”, “we”, “our”) is committed to protecting the personal information of its clients and visitors. This privacy policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information in accordance with Quebec’s Act Respecting the Protection of Personal Information in the Private Sector, as modernized by Law 25, and Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
1. Information We Collect
We may collect the following information:
- Identifying information: name, address, phone number, email address, date of birth.
- Financial information: details required to assess your insurance needs and provide quotes.
- Health information: medical information required to obtain certain insurance products, collected with your explicit consent.
- Browsing data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, visit duration, cookies, and similar technologies.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your personal information to:
- Provide insurance quotes and process your requests.
- Communicate with you about our products and services.
- Improve our website and services.
- Comply with our legal and regulatory obligations.
- Prevent fraud and ensure the security of our systems.
3. Sharing Your Information
We may share your information with:
- Partner insurance companies: to obtain quotes and issue insurance policies on your behalf.
- Service providers: third parties that help us operate our website and services (hosting, analytics, communications).
- Regulatory authorities: when required by law or by a court order.
We never sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Communication Outside Quebec
Some of our service providers (web hosting, analytics tools, communications) may store or process personal information outside Quebec, including elsewhere in Canada or in the United States. Before communicating personal information outside Quebec, we conduct a privacy impact assessment to ensure it receives adequate protection, as required by law.
5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
On your first visit, a banner asks for your choice. No audience measurement or advertising cookie is stored before you answer. You can change your mind at any time through the Cookie preferences link at the bottom of every page.
The two categories
Audience measurement. Tells us how many people visit the site, which pages they read and where they leave. Live chat stays available if you refuse this category: only its measurement cookies are switched off.
Advertising. Tells us which ads lead to a real quote request, so we do not keep paying for the ones that lead nowhere.

Cookies we set ourselves

Cookies set by the providers above are set under their own names and lifetimes: _ga and _ga_* for Google Analytics (24 months), _gcl_au for Google Ads (90 days), _fbp for Meta (90 days), and for Zoho SalesIQ protecto-_zldp (2 years), protecto-_siqid (2 years) and protecto-_zldt (1 day).
Withdrawing your consent
The Cookie preferences link at the bottom of every page reopens the banner and lets you change or withdraw your choice. Withdrawing consent is exactly as easy as giving it. You can also refuse or clear cookies in your browser settings.
6. Security of Your Information
We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, loss, alteration, or disclosure.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
8. Your Rights
Under applicable laws, you have the right to:
- Access your personal information that we hold.
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Withdraw your consent to the use or disclosure of your information, subject to our legal obligations.
- Request that we stop disseminating your personal information or de-index any hyperlink attached to it.
- Receive your computerized personal information in a structured, commonly used technological format (data portability).
If you are dissatisfied with how we handle your request, you may file a complaint with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
