If you purchased insurance through Protecto and want to modify or renew your policy, here is how to proceed.
Modify the dates or duration of your coverage
For travel and visitor insurance:
Extend your stay: Contact us before the end of your current policy. Extensions are generally possible if no claim has been made and you are still in good health at the time of the request.
Shorten the duration: Some insurers allow a partial refund if you return earlier than planned. Conditions vary. Contact us to verify.
Change the dates: Depending on the insurer and plan, date modifications may be possible before the coverage start date.
Add coverage or change your plan
Major modifications (adding a beneficiary, changing coverage amount) may require a new policy or an endorsement to your existing one. Our advisors can evaluate your options.
Renew your policy
Visitor and Super Visa insurance: Renewal is possible before expiration, often without a new medical questionnaire if your health status has not changed. Contact us a few weeks before expiration to avoid any gap in coverage.
Life and disability insurance: Renewal depends on the type of policy. Term policies have renewals at predefined terms; permanent policies do not require renewal.
Supplemental health insurance: Most plans renew annually. Your insurer will contact you with renewal terms.
Cancel your policy
Cancellation is generally possible, but refund conditions vary depending on the insurer, plan and timing of the request:
- Before the start date: often a full refund (minus possible administration fees)
- After coverage begins: pro-rata refund, or no refund depending on the terms
